milioni di immigrati che oggi
vivono in clandestinità negli
Stati Uniti, attraverso un per-
messo di soggiorno e di lavoro
che eviterebbe rimpatri forzosi,
interessa gran parte delle comu-
nità etniche che compongono
gli Usa, italoamericani inclusi.
Q u a n d o a l l ' i n i z i o d e l
Novecento gli italiani arrivaro-
no a migliaia, il Paese che li
discriminava e vituperava ma li
u s a v a c o m e m a n o d o p e r a a
basso costo per implementare lo
sviluppo economico e industria-
le, reagì con la chiusura delle
frontiere a quella che percepiva
come un'invasione di straccioni.
