THURS DAY,   JANUARY  31,   2013 L'Italo-Americano Lysistrata Unbound – A prequel to Aristophanes's anti-war comedy LOS ANGELES - The ancient Mediterranean, land of myths and culture, is once again protagonist at the Getty Villa, as the world premiere of Lysistrata Unbound, an ingenious new script in progress by award-winning playwright Eduardo Actress Olympia Dukakis part of the Theater Lab Series. Sibling actors Olympia and Apollo Dukakis will lead the cast of "Not Man Apart Physical Theatre Ensemble" for Machado and directed by John Farmanesh-Bocca. This newly "prequel" to imagined Aristophanes' Lysistrata tells of an aristocratic Athenian matron who is crushed by fateful events and gradually transformed into the most celebrated peace activist of the ancient world. The daughter of Greek immigrants Olympia, 81, is best known for her supporting role in the film Moonstruck, for which she won an Oscar in 1987. Her brother Apollo has been acting for decades all over the US. Performances of Lysistrata Unbound will take place in the Auditorium at the Getty Villa on Friday, February 8, at 8:00 p.m., Saturday, February 9, at 3:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. and Sunday, February 10, at 3:00 p.m. The running time for each performance is approximately 90 minutes and performances will be presented without intermission.
