Un Paese in crisi per risollevarsi deve buttare a mare le zavorre BARBARA MINAFRA It is the first time Berlusconi has received a definitive tax-fraud conviction DATED MATERIAL - DO NOT DELAY ROME - Silvio Berlusconi said he was "the victim of an unequalled judicial attack". Italy's supreme Court of Cassation upheld a tax-fraud conviction making a four-year prison sentence definitive. This makes him ineligible to run in future elections. A good numbers of supporters and deputies of his party, People of Freedom (PdL), went immediately after the sentence to express him solidarity. Then, in front of hundreds of them, visi- bly moved, he rejected the verdict: "I am innocent. I've never made false invoices. I never called my company while I was Prime Minister because it would have raised questions about conflict of interest. I don't give up!". It is the first time Berlusconi has received a definitive conviction after many sentences that declared his absolution or were prescribed. It approved a decree for the enhancement of Pompeii, after Unesco reprisal on June. Sono in difficoltà le imprese, soprattutto quelle creditrici nei confronti dello Stato e della pubblica amministrazione che deve non meno di 120 miliardi in committenze, tanto da aver raddoppiato il numero delle aziende fallite per i ritardi nei pagamenti lasciando intendere che potrebbero triplicare, se è vero che il debito si potrà estinguere non prima del 2018. Faticano le famiglie che in 5 anni sono state costrette a ridurre i consumi di 3.660 euro, quasi un mese e mezzo di spese tagliate in un anno, dovendo fare i conti con il lavoro che manca, le bollette da pagare, mutui insostenibili e i costi della vita sempre più esosi (leggete Dall'Italia pag. 3). Boccheggiano i giovani che combattono con tassi di disoccupazione sopra il 40%. Arrancano gli anziani che ogni mese si ritrovano in tasca spiccioli più che vitalizi se 7,4 milioni di pensionati (pari al 44%) sopravvivono con meno di mille euro al mese con disuguaglianze marcate tra Nord e Sud. È in affanno l'intero sistema economico tra burocrazia lenta, malagestione e sprechi (come le auto blu di pag. 3), fondi europei sprecati o persi (approfondimento a pagina 4 con Impresa Italia) e una gestione pubblica zavorrata di questioni politiche e partitiche (come il caso Berlusconi spiegato anche a pagina 15) che frenano un'azione di governo mirata ed efficace. Ne consegue un'immagine decadente e affaticata, che il Paese dà all'estero anche a chi, come i nostri emigrati, tende sempre ad attenuare, smorzare e alleggerire, dimostrando ancora profondo affetto e legame, anche se non sempre ricambiato (si leggano le testimonianze di pagina 5). Una condizione che oltre ad incidere pesantemente sulle borse e i mercati, sull'affidabilità per le agenzie di rating e l'attrattività di capitali, ci lascia irrimediabilente indietro rispetto ai passi in avanti che altri Paesi fanno. Nuovi centri di propulsione economica stanno soppiantando i vecchi protagonisti internazionali e perdere il passo, oggi, significa non solo restare indietro ma essere tagliati fuori.
