The city of Los Angeles is a bridge for innova- tion, start-ups, and the space economy, areas in which Italy is particu- larly strong. Collabora- tion with NASA is a key element of the relation- ship between Italy and the United States. What policies are you pursu- ing in these sectors? One of the very first visits I made in the United States was to NASA in Houston, Texas, and today I also visit- ed JPL in Pasadena. I came here with the intention of visiting the aerospace dis- trict. We also went to Cal- tech, where we met many Italian researchers, scien- tists, and aerospace engi- neers. We spoke extensively a b o u t s p a c e , e s p e c i a l l y because we recently signed a l e t t e r o f i n t e n t w i t h NASA's new leadership to strengthen collaboration. This is also the year of Italian cuisine: many sectors are performing well in the United States d e s p i t e t a r i f f s . H o w would you describe the current situation? This is the year in which M e d i t e r r a n e a n c u i s i n e became part of humanity's heritage, and we have orga- nized very important events despite the difficulties relat- ed to tariffs, including those on pasta. I must say, howev- er, that we are overcoming these challenges. Certainly, tariff policies are not some- thing we welcome, but we have seen that by working w e l l a n d c o m m u n i c a t i n g our perspectives and needs to American authorities, it is possible to find solutions.
