Here, on September 6 1985, Fellini was awarded the Italian film makers Federico Fellini and Ettore Scola Golden Lion for lifetime achievement. Besides the film competition, which was won by Rosi, the movie "How Strange to be Named Federico" by Ettore Scola was screened in the presence of President Napolitano. Pope calls for peace Pope Francis wrote a letter to the Russian President Vladimir Putin pleading to stop the war, and he prayed with millions of people all over the world for peace. Italian Prime Minister Enrico Letta urged President Obama to pursue a political solution instead of a military intervention. All of this testifies how much the Syrian crisis, remained unsolved at the G20 Summit in St. Petersburg, represents a crucial issue also for Italy. Not only Italian military vessels have already set out to the Mediterranean Sea in order to provide preventive protection to the UNIFIL Blue Helmets in Letta with Cameron and Obama Letta with Putin at G20 Summit (Ph: laboratorio fotografico Chigi) Lebanon, but also the Italian Parliament has directly addressed the threat of a possible war. During his visit in Russia, Premier Letta signed a formal condemnation of the slaughters in Syria and the use of poisonous gas against the civilians, suggesting a political solution to be carried out by the United Nations. On the contrary, the US President pushes for a military intervention in Syria as a response to the hundreds of victims and thousands of illnesses caused by the alleged use of chemical weapons by Bashar Assad's military forces. Settembre tempo di ritorno alla normale programmazione televisiva e di pigra resa alle serate in poltrona con gli svaghi relegati, per chi può, al solo fine settimana. Settembre tempo di bilanci sull'estate che sta finendo per albergatori e stabilimenti balneari (pare siano stati frequentati più dagli stranieri che dai connazionali per via della crisi) e per un turismo che si conferma, sempre e comunque, chiave di volta per la ripresa economica. Settembre tempo di conti e decisioni contabili da prendere con sempre maggiore urgenza per cercare di risollevare una situazione economica critica, con tassi di disoccupazione a due cifre e tasse procapite salite a record indesiderabili da oltre 12mila euro. Settembre tempo di politica calda tra scadenze amministrative, congressi dei partiti e crisi di governo annunciate, smentite, minacciate, auspicate o rigettate perché se cade l'esecutivo addio alla sospirata crescita. Mentre si chiude la Mostra di Venezia alla sua veneranda 70ma edizione (Red Carpet pagine 12 e 13), mentre sfumano i sogni di gloria americani delle tenniste azzurre arrivate a un passo dagli US Open, ma si rafforzano quelli mondiali della Nazionale di calcio (Notizie sportive a pagina 10 e 11), mentre la fiducia degli italiani fatica a consolidarsi in Europa (Dall'Italia a pagina 3) e mentre la crisi siriana strattona le coscienze con gli appelli alla pace del Pontefice (qui a lato e nella English Section a pagina 15), l'Italia torna alla routine dopo la pausa estiva. La speranza, anche per chi la osserva da Oltreoceano, da emigrato critico o nostalgico, è che la situazione del Belpaese migliori. Perché se l'Abruzzo è considerato dalla rivista Usa "Live and Invest Overseas" fra i 20 migliori posti al mondo per trascorrervi la vecchiaia (Società e Attualità a pagina 5), chi ci vive con età anagrafica inferiore, non può che sperare che diventi al più presto un Paese per giovani, con opportunità e posti di lavoro, e non di nuove fughe all'estero.
