THURSDAY, OCTOBER 1, 2015 www.italoamericano.org 3 W e pay homage to the 2015 Italian Heritage Month by taking one more step towards the future of your newspaper. S t a r t i n g t h i s w e e k , L ' I t a l o - A m e r i c a n o w i l l change its format and print quality. This was a neces- sary decision to make, in order to ensure the best possible reading experi- e n c e t o o u r l o y a l readers. The newspaper's rich content will benefit from a more user-friendly l a y o u t , a s w e l l a s f r o m higher definition pictures and writing fonts. In addi- tion, the downsized page is meant to offer a more manageable hard- copy to leaf through. From being an old-school newspaper, L'Italo- Americano is gradually turning into a modern and easy magazine that makes reading the news a pleasant experience in all respects. And our digital edition is based on the same idea, allowing our sub- scribers to access L'Italo-Americano's constantly updated content everywhere and at all times, without the need to carry a hard copy but simply through their tablets or smartphones. This is part of our effort to promote and disseminate the Italian American culture in the U.S., to inform in real time on the events regarding our Italian communities, and to become a champion of the Italian language and culture for you to look at with trust as you wish to preserve, build or nurture your cultural identity. Just like the H e r e c o m e s t h e I t a l i a n H e r i t a ge M o n t h w i t h a r e s t y l e d L'Italo-Americano From the director Italian Heritage Month that we are about to celebrate together: Columbus Day represents an occasion to commemorate the Italian American contribution to the development and flourishing of the United States. By working all year round to showcase the added value brought about by Italian immigrants in the past as well as today, L'Italo-Americano knows very well the importance to provide a comprehensive portrait of Italy. This means not only Renaissance art or regional cuisine – no matter how precious our artistic treasures and culinary traditions may be – but also other aspects of the Italian composite values and quality products. For this reason, many pages of our newspaper focus on the description of places, people, events, endeavors, and initiatives that honor Italy and make us proud of our country. We are also commit- ted to preserving the Italian section, featuring interesting interviews and stories that draw the attention toward our beautiful language, which is inseparable from our culture, history and identity. Same attention is dedicated to English-speaking communities of Italian descent: English can't be considered as a foreign language but rather as the main instrument to convey our contents, as it was the main instrument for Italian immigrants to integrate into the U.S. society. It is the language of all Italian Americans, and so it is essential for us as well. On the occasion of the Italian Heritage Month, I wish you to cele- brate and reconnect with your Italian identity. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to our subscribers for recent delays in the newspaper's delivery, due to a glitch in the postal service. By changing both the delivery service and postal office, we hope to avoid future inconveniences and promptly go back to normal. Happy Italian Heritage Month.
