THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2017 www.italoamericano.org L'Italo-Americano 2 L 'Italo-Americano never stops. It changes, grows, and evolves. To start this edition, we are introducing a change that aims at reestablishing our editorials by offering an additional service of linguistic, as well as cultural promotion. We also want to collect the requests that you, our loving readers have to continuously help us improve through thoughts, comments and suggestions. From now on, alongside most of the articles written in English, you will find the Italian translation. We are doing this as a way to help those who wish to learn Italian (or English, in the case of the many new comers from Italy) allowing them to be able to refer back to the version in their mother tongue next to it. You will no longer have your doubts nor will you need to go searching for vocabulary. It will be easier to see how to say the word that you have right on the tip of your tongue because now, the idiomatic expressions will definitely be much easier to remember and, little by little, by reading and comparing, you will begin to train your fluency. For those who prefer to browse through on your tablets and smartphones, you will also find, in addition to our digital editions on our website (www.italoamericano.org), the Italian versions of the articles we publish. This is our way of offering a brief language course and a helpful tool to help keep your Italian memory well-trained. Little by little, we will add the parallel text next to all for all of the articles in English- a gradual change as a way not to interrupt your reading habits and give you the opportunity to better appreciate that which we hope will be an improvement and, as always, we will be waiting for your comments. The email, bilingual@italoamericano.org and all of our social media platforms, are always ready to receive L'Italo-Americano becomes a course of Italian to be browsed through From the director your valuable opinions. We want L'Italo-Americano to continue to tirelessly serve the community with passion and growing commitment, as it has been since 1908. To help support our work which aims to promote the evolution and expand the link between Italians and Italian-Americans, we want to remind you of the winter lottery. This year, there are not only the prestigious awards with the "Italian Gourmet Holiday Raffle" but we are also offering the chance to win by demonstrating your traditional generosity. After the devastating earthquake that destroyed many towns and even more monuments in Central Italy, which unfortunately continues to affect the Apennines and hitting the Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo, and Lazio regions, we have decided to give a signal of solidarity. A part of the fundraiser will be donated to the non-profit organization, "I love Norcia", a town that besides its many monuments also lost its century-old Benedictin cathedral. Until the end of the month, you will also have chance to win great prizes by going to https://italoamericano.rallyup.com/italian- gourmet-raffle. At this time, we would like to thank all those who will help support us in the reconstruction of Norcia and want to remind you that the first prize of the "Italian Gourmet Holiday Raffle" will be a seven night trip to Italy for two at the B&B Giglio Bianco di Firenze. The prestigious hospitality will be accompanied by a unique experience in the heart of the Italian Renaissance between Ponte Vecchio and Palazzo Pitti, with views of the Boboli Gardens. A gourmet Italian cooking course will also be offered to the winners by Chefs Vary and Edoardo. You are in for a great treat with the second place prize - the winner will receive delicious gourmet food made in Italy for six months, courtesy of NonnaBox: a selection of Italian foods and traditional regional recipes. The third place winner will be given a one-week stay in the luxury Resort La Florida in Valtellina, one of the most picturesque areas of the Alps, not far from Milan's fashion district. We even have a fourth place prize! $300 in cash! Thank you from all of us for your continued support! Simone Schiavinato, Director NEWS & FEATURES TOP STORIES PEOPLE EVENTS
