Un cammino progressivo che vuole costruire una rete tra gli italoa- mericani rendendo il giornale un punto di riferimento e di ritrovo comune, che sembra ricordare la mitica conquista del West. Una cavalcata che la carovana de L'Italo Americano non ha mai smesso di alimentare. Come nel 1980 quando il setti- manale acquistò la testata L'Eco d'Italia di San Francisco diven- tando così l'unico periodico ita- liano della West Coast. Nella nostra storia c'è un'altra data importante che segna questa "gold rush" editoriale e certifica un primato di cui essere fieri. Nel 1988 Il Progresso Italo- Americano pubblicato a New York sin dal lontano 1880, chiu- se i battenti (per trasformarsi in America Oggi) rendendoci di fatto il giornale della comunità italiana più antico e longevo di tutti gli Stati Uniti.
