THURS DAY, ��� MARCH��� 28, ��� 2013 L'Italo-Americano Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero to visit California in April Ambassador of Italy to the United Stated Claudio Bisogniero will be visiting Southern California in April, for his second official mission since last Fall. His presence here will honor the success received by the many initiatives for the 2013 ��� Year of the Italian Culture in the U.S. Ambassador Bisogniero will be present at the opening of Sicily: Art and Invention between Greece and Rome at Getty Villa in Malibu. The spectacular Mozia Charioteer statue from Sicily will be the centerpiece of the exhibition. The presence of the Ambassador confirms the important relationship with the Getty Museum, encouraged to deepen the mission to promote the Italian art and culture in the U.S. Bisogniero will also take part to the reception that the Consul General of Italy in Los Angeles, Giuseppe Perrone, will host for the entire cast of La Cenerentola, Ambassador Claudio Bisogniero one of the most famous operas by Gioacchino Rossini, now presented by the LA Opera. Among the special guests, Italian artists Vito Pirante, Alessandro Corbelli and Nicola Ulivieri. Opera is currently one of the highlights of the 2013: Year of the Italian Culture in the U.S., thanks to the many representations scheduled in Los Angeles and Santa Barbara. Ambassador Bisogniero will join the opening of Trasparenza, the exhibit hosted by the Italian Culture Institute, which features about thirty works by Italian artist Salvatore Emblema. The exhibit aims at presenting to the American audience one of the most important representatives of Italian contemporary art, whose works are the result of a unique combination of light and space. The Ambassador will then visit some landmarks of the Italian presence in Los Angeles, such as the historic Little Italy and the Watt Towers, which have recently gained a lot of attention from historians and from the public. Girls from the fifty U.S. states can participate, but upon invitation only. This is in fact a very selective competition that gives young women, who have shown outstanding leadership ability, the opportunity to achieve their dreams and goals of being our leaders of tomorrow; the Foundation gives each state winner a trip to the National Selection and a scholarship, which will be used by the girls to continue their studies after graduating from high school. Italian Gianella Ghiglino, 17 years old, will be competing in the 33rd annual America's Homecoming Queen for the State of California.
