CV • N. 19 • GIOVEDÌ 9 MAGGIO 2013     •     THURSDAY, MAY 9, 2013 Italian society set to decide its future while facing fundamental changes DATED MATERIAL - DO NOT DELAY SIMONE SCHIAVINATO Although the many celebrations of motherhood that took place around the world over thousands of years, the modern Mother's Day was first celebrated in the US, when it became a recognized holiday in 1914 thanks to the hard work of the pioneering women of their times, Ms Julia Ward Howe and Ms Anna Jarvis. Around 1870, Julia Ward Howe called for Mother's Day to be celebrated each year to encourage pacifism and disarmament amongst women. Then, in 1907 Anna Jarvis started to organize the so-called "Mother's Day Work Clubs", advocating for Mother's Day to be widely recognized. Tutte queste trasformazioni, piccole o grandi non hanno solo dato un nuovo e più aggiornato look al giornale, ma hanno migliorato anche la sua leggibilità. Durante lo scorso anno in particolare, le sfide che L'Italo-Americano ha dovuto affrontare e le conseguenti decisioni riguardo al futuro orientamento del giornale, non sono state facili. A volte, le sfide sono sembrate insormontabili, ma le abbiamo superate non contando soltanto sulle consolidate, ma limitate risorse finanziarie, ma anche sul continuo sostegno e patronato di tutti i nostri lettori. I modi per sponsorizzare e sostenere possono essere diversi come, ad esempio, attraverso gli annunci pubblicitari, gli abbonamenti e i rinnovi, condividendo le notizie sulle comunità locali, partecipando alla nostra comunità su Facebook, con commenti ai nostri articoli sul website, facendo un re-tweet dei nostri tweets, aggiungendo eventi al nostro calendario e passando il giornale a un parente o a un amico quando non lo state più leggendo.
