THURS DAY,   AUGUS T  1,   2013 L'Italo-Americano PAGE  19 Mediterranean music talent to An Afternoon Under the Stars take the stage soon at Casa Enthusiastic members of Italiana in Los Angeles Piemontesi Nel Mondo of MAARIA BRUNO On September 13, 2013 a group of six talented youths from Italy will perform at Casa Italiana in a music concert under the artistic MED MUSIC TALENT STUDIO direction of renowned Vocal Coach maestro and soprano Ida Decenvirale of Bari, Italy. The young singers, between the ages of 12 and 18, have already performed in some major singing competitions like Ti lascio una canzone and Italian Idol in Italy and have won several awards. The concert will be a wonderful opportunity for this young Italian singers to display their talent in front of the Italian American community of Los Angeles. The concert is organized by Maria Bruno, President of the San Padre Pio Society. The community at large is invited and encouraged to participate in this unique event. The concert will take place a Casa Italiana, 1039 N. Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90012 beginning promptly at 8:00 p.m., with an expected running time of two hours. The program will end with a special performance by soprano Ida Decenvirale, who will electrify the audience with her incredibly powerful voice. A reception will follow the concert at Casa Italiana. Ticket cost is $20.00 a person with advance reservation and $25.00 at the door. Donations and sponsorship are also accepted to help defray the cost of hosting this talented group from the sunny Puglia region of Italy! Southern California answered the call to an "Afternoon under the Stars" and met for lunch and planetarium show at the Griffith Park Observatory on Wednesday, July 10. During the Club meeting held at lunch a $2,000 scholarship, with a $2,000 matching grant from the Marisa Antonini Foundation, was awarded to Lauren Thompson, a sophomore at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona.
