In the Netherlands, he will participate in the Nuclear Security Summit, hosted by the Dutch government, where world leaders will highlight progress made to secure nuclear materials and commit to future steps to prevent nuclear terrorism. He will also hold bilateral events with Dutch officials. They reported the unam- biguous detection of 80 antihy- drogen atoms 2.7 metres down- stream of their production, where the perturbing influence of the magnetic fields used initially to produce the antiatoms is small. This result is a significant step towards precise hyperfine spec- troscopy of antihydrogen atoms. Primordial antimatter has so far never been observed in the uni- verse, and its absence remains a major scientific enigma. Italian researchers of the Nuclear Physics Italian Institute work in the Asacusa project of Geneve Cern Laboratory which has recently discovered the Higgs Bosom and is now studying, for the first time, the anti-matter. "Around us we see only matter. We have never found an anti- atom: where the anti-matter is in the universe, it is a mystery", said Luca Venturelli, researcher of the Istituto Nazionale di Fisica Nucleare of Brescia and of the University of Brescia, who coor- dinates the Italian group which collaborates with the Asacusa. Nella vita quotidiana, noi che siamo lontani da tutte queste tra- gedie di popoli dimenticati, non pensiamo alla violenza che si perpetra nel silenzio dei media internazionali, non immaginia- mo la sofferenza di madri, padri, figli e famiglie intere che ven- gono smembrate da odi etnici e ideologici che cancellano le re- gole più elementari non di con- vivenza ma, di umanità. Non ca- piamo il dramma che la guerra porta tra le case di persone co- muni, nella storia di uomini e donne e nell'identità di Paesi che una volta feriti, trasmetteranno un dna sfregiato a tutte le gene- razioni future, condannandole a portarsi addosso per decenni le colpe di chi è venuto prima. Ma a tutto questo dovremmo pensare. Dovremmo sforzarci ogni giorno di evitare ideologie che incitino a violenze, intolle- ranze, discriminazioni, indiffe- renza nel nostro piccolo, nel mi- crocosmo delle relazioni quotidi- ane, nei contatti con gli stranie- ri, gli immigrati, i diversi, perchè solo così si possono seminare germogli di diritti civili, di uma- nità e pace.
